February Inspiration & Insights

It may be the dead of winter, but February is the time fashion content comes alive. New York Fashion Week (and fashion month for all who celebrate) is the perfect catalyst to engage with your community and drive conversation. A flurry of new trends and sartorial spectacles will be blowing in, and we have the insights to set you up for success.

While our eyes will be on fashion month, February is the time to talk about transitioning wardrobes from winter to spring, Valentine’s Day, and trends for the year that have real staying power.

Fashion Month: The AW24 Shows

Consumers may not need to know every detail of the fall 2024 runway shows, but oh will we be watching. Throughout the month, we’ll be taking notes to give you recommendations on what to incorporate in your styling sessions.

Who we’ll be watching: Tommy Hilfiger. One of the great American designers, Hilfiger will return to New York Fashion Week with his fall winter 2024 collection titled “A New York Moment.” The moment will be a special one, as the brand has only shown once since 2020.

Will bows and girlcore endure? We’ll be watching Sandy Liang, the architect of the bow craze that dominated 2023, to see what she does next.

Khaite’s quiet luxury will be another show to watch, especially after designer Catherine Holstein brought home Womenswear Designer of the Year at the 2023 CFDA Fashion Awards.

Finally, Thom Browne, who usually shows in Paris, will close out the week on February 14. We’ll be tuning in for his brilliant menswear designs, but as Browne’s profile has risen due to notable Met Gala and celebrity red carpet looks, the show will be the cherry on top of NYFW.

And that is just our shows to watch for New York. Check Glamhive’s Instagram account just for stylists - @TheHivebyGlamhive for more fashion month updates, and as you prep your content ahead of time, use the buzz of fashion month to promote ‘The (Re)Invention,’ ‘Style Consult,’ or ‘Get Styled’ services. With so much fashion talk in the atmosphere, your clients will be inspired by an influx of impeccable street style.

Trend Insights – Is The Mob Wife Aesthetic In Or Out?

Mob Wife Aesthetic

What is mob wife aesthetic? Does it have staying power? Our verdict: it’s giving micro trend. Micro trends are coming and going faster than ever as fashion moments are as flash-in-the-pan as trending audio on Instagram Reels.

The mob wife aesthetic may be taking over social media (#mobwifeaesthetics has soared to over 50 million views on TikTok in just weeks), but will it drive sustained purchases? With its statement fur coats, bold gold jewelry, big hair, and animal prints, the mob wife aesthetic is uniquely suited to winter. Once temperatures rise, the Sopranos-referencing craze will die down. Pieces that can be woven into timeless looks will have a longer shelf life. Think splashes of leopard print, understated gold jewelry, and voluminous yet polished hairstyles. Rosie Huntington-Whitely’s soft goddess waves are a good reference.

Cherry Red Style

Trend Insights – Is Cherry Red In Or Out?

Will the cherry red trend live through 2024? If you’re a fashion fanatic, you may have spotted pops of cherry red throughout your social feeds since last fall. Google searches for cherry red have stayed steady leading up to Valentine’s Day, so if you love the color, invest in it. Our gut tells us this color will become oversaturated, and gently transition into luxe burgundy and oxblood soon.

Valentine’s Day: What To Wear

Valentine’s Day is the same every year, yet culture shapes new ways of celebrating. Last year, Miley told us we can buy our own flowers–this year, girly trends like bows and Barbie mania are very V-Day coded. Teach your clients how to elevate their look into something both fresh and timeless for date night. Play with themes and share outfit inspiration in Stories, posts, or Reels. For a fancy date, promote ‘The Special Event,’ and for a casual date, promote ‘Just An Hour.’

Valentine’s Day: Girl Dinner

Valentine’s Day has expanded well beyond the idea of date night. Think elegant dinners that celebrate the girls. Lana Del Rey’s Skims campaign is the mood board for girl’s night style in 2024. Get the girls on board by promoting the ‘Just and Hour’ service.
