How Stylist Nadine Naue Helps Women Reimagine Their Wardrobes, and Themselves
A stylist, model, and mom based in the New York metro area, Nadine has spent the past two decades traveling the world, working alongside the industry’s top designers, stylists, and creative leaders. Her approach, born from her years on set, is equal parts creative and practical: style that moves with your life. “In a store, someone might put you in something that looks good, but they’re not asking, Will she actually wear this to work? What’s her job? Could she wear it on the weekend?” Nadine says. “That’s the difference between shopping and styling.”
For Nadine, clothes have to work hard. They should fit your life, not just the mirror.
Her signature approach: curiosity meets clarity
Every styling journey starts with what Nadine calls her style identity process.
“I’m endlessly curious,” she says. “I ask a lot of questions: where my client goes to dinner, how she spends her weekends, where she lives, her climate. Most people have a hard time articulating their style. My job is to get it out through visuals, questions, and examples.”
That curiosity, she says, leads to deeper connection. “By the end, clients text me saying, ‘You’re in my head!’...and I love that. It means they’ve learned how to think about their wardrobe differently.”Editing, not overhauling Nadine is known for her transformative, but gentle, closet edits. “I go category by category, keeping their lifestyle and brand in mind,” she explains. “Some pieces get tailored, some get reimagined, like turning a dress into a top, and some just need to go. It’s a process that feels creative, not critical.” She describes herself as a “creative computer,” able to see how a piece could be dressed up or down long before a client can. “Once they see it, they start answering their own questions. That’s when I know it’s working.”
Her end goal? “A closet that feels intentional, functional, and freeing.”
Why capsule wardrobes are her obsession
After years of packing and unpacking around the globe, Nadine fell in love with the capsule concept out of pure necessity. “Travel taught me that every piece has to earn its place,” she says. “Capsule wardrobes are effortless by design, each piece has purpose, versatility, and longevity.”
For clients, she builds capsules around elevated basics, strong tailoring, and a touch of personality. “When you know your core pieces,” she says, “getting dressed becomes easy, and you look like you put in way more effort than you did.”
Her favorite instant upgrades
“Accessories,” Nadine says without hesitation. “And tailoring. The right belt, shoe, or earring can completely up-level an outfit. And a tailored blazer or trouser? Instant polish.”
She also swears by styling micro-adjustments: a pushed-up sleeve, a cuffed pant, the right sock or layered bracelet. “Even if everything you’re wearing is expensive, it can still look ‘meh’ if it’s not styled. It’s those final touches that make an outfit feel alive.”
Her take on “age-appropriate” style
“I don’t really believe in it,” she says. “Style has nothing to do with age,it’s about confidence. I’ve met women in their sixties who look incredible in baggy jeans and a hint of skin, and thirty-year-olds who prefer to cover up. The only non-negotiable? Quality. Don’t wear things that look cheap or juvenile. You can wear anything if it’s done well.”
When style transforms confidence
The compliments Nadine treasures most come after the fact. “When a client messages me saying she finally felt confident enough to go on the date, apply for the job, or just walk into a room differently, that’s the goal,” she says.
Her styling philosophy in a line
“Fewer pieces, better pieces.”
It’s the through-line in everything Nadine does: thoughtful curation, smart investment, and clothes that work hard for the life you actually live.
